Dear EUNICE Community,

We are inviting you to the EUNICE Discussion Club in this academic year. The Club is organized by the Centre of Languages and Communication of Poznan University of Technology. In the winter semester the meetings will be taking place on Tuesdays, 4:50 – 6:20pm.

The first, special meeting during the EUNICE Days at Poznań University of Technology, will be on 21 October. The topic: “America after Charlie Kirk”.

The Club objective is to facilitate a space for all students to discuss different topics. The focus is on areas including society, culture, politics etc., of the English-speaking world, but not only. The Club mission is to foster open communication, encourage the exchange of ideas and opinions, develop communication skills, intercultural skills, and practice one’s English (key competences in EUNICE) in a friendly atmosphere. The principle guideline during the club meetings is the policy of respectfulness towards others’ opinions.

Club meetings are held twice a month in person, in the afternoons after classes, at the Centre of Languages and Communication of PUT. So far during the club meetings, we’ve discussed topics such as: the U.S. presidential election, the notion of post truth and media literacy in the age of technological globalization, the limits of free speech, facts and feelings regarding climate change, the crisis of media literacy, the concerning phenomenon of social media “brain rot”, Artificial Intelligence in art, the phenomenon of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and social media’s influence on travelling.

PUT students have an opportunity to attend the meetings in person – there is a Club invite sent out a week before every meeting via student mailing list. There is a possibility to organize meetings on-line for EUNICE students via Zoom. The link to the Zoom meeting is here
