The 2nd MOOC Introduction to Global Studies

EUNICE European University offers from 15 March the free Massive Open Online Course “Introduction to Global Studies”. This course, co-created by international universities of the EUNICE consortium, presents extended contents in its second edition, is taught in English, and is open to all audiences - members or not of the EUNICE partner institutions.

This is an introductory course that serves as an initiation to the field of global studies. It employs a transversal and multidisciplinary perspective, covering topics such as globalisation, economy, society, culture, health and sustainability. In the context of today’s globalised world, this course aims to help understand the relationships that are created between phenomena and actors in different environments at local, national and/or international level.

The MOOC “Introduction to Global Studies” consists of more than 80 training hours delivered by 18 lecturers, an added value highlighted by Adolfo Cosme Fernández, Professor of Economics at the University of Cantabria and Coordinator of the course: “The learning experience will be enriched by the multiculturalism offered by the diverse profiles of the teaching staff.”

MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) are an inclusive, educational modality given that they are open to anyone interested in taking them, have no enrolment or place limits, are taught in an online format and are open and free of charge.

How to register

To take the MOOC “Introduction to Global Studies” it is not necessary to go through any admission process. You just need to enter the EUNICE Moodle platform and start. The access will be granted either providing the same email and password you use at your own university or registering for free with an email.

The methodology adapts to the pace of each participant: the student visualises the videos, even from their phone, and explores the complementary materials in order to successfully pass the test available in each module. The number of attempts to pass the tests is limited, but passing all of them results in a diploma accrediting the successful completion of the course (3 ECTS credits). Taking this course also opens the door to obtain the Certificate in Global Competences in the European Supplement to the Bachelor’s Degree already available in some EUNICE Universities (consult with your university the requirements to obtain this Certificate).
