The FIT4FUTURE 2024 Summer School "Powering tomorrow: Doing Research for a Sustainable Energy Transition" is already halfway through. The online part of this fantastic event has just concluded, and in September, the second, on-site part will take place at the Poznan University of Technology.
The Summer School, for which applications were open to PhD students, graduates, and undergraduate students who are conducting research or are interested in the topics of energy and social transformation, is focused on sustainable energy transition. Transitioning to sustainable energy is not just about replacing one form of energy with another, but also rethinking and restructuring the very fabric of society. This requires exploring the complexities of socio-technical energy systems and seeking solutions that are not only clean but also fair and resilient. As the energy transition is not only a technological challenge but also a social and political one, the FIT4FUTURE 2024 Summer School focuses on critically examining and holistically managing the energy transition in a sustainable manner. The Summer School concentrates on various topics related to understanding, evaluating, and designing sustainable energy transitions in an interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary context.
Methodology
By participating in the summer school, competencies in sustainable energy transition are developed and strengthened. It equips participants with the knowledge, skills, and innovative approaches needed to tackle the challenges and opportunities in this crucial field. The school uses a hybrid approach (online + offline) and the flipped classroom method, where materials (readings, videos) are provided to participants beforehand, and the time spent together is used for course activities such as expert contributions, intensive group work, problem definition and solving on real-world cases, practical exercises, and discussions.
Certificate
Participants who attend all sessions will receive a certificate of participation and 6 ECTS credits.
The Summer School is free of charge and is organized by Faculty 5 of Business, Law, and Social Sciences of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg - a partner in the European University EUNICE - in cooperation with the Faculty of Sociology at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan and the Poznan University of Technology.
